As the 2022 Winter Olympic Games conclude, as in the Cold War the politics continue to unfold. Please join me in learning about the politics of the Cold War when in 1948 my heroic grandmother, Marie Provaznikova, became first Olympic defector. Harry Blutstein will discuss his book Cold War Olympics on February 27th at 4 pm EST.

With Czech Radio’s Petr Dudek, I’ll also be hosting a conversational collage on Zoom, ’A Woman to Remember: Marie Provaznikova, on the 10th of April at 2 pm EDT. Historians, colleagues, friends and family will pay tribute and tell the story, both tragic and triumphant, of the person I called my ba’ba.
